What the PRISM Qualitative Guide Database is:

– It is a library of 31 interview and focus group guides drawn from 13 different research studies, contributed by members of the National PRISM and RE-AIM Consortium

– It provides exemplar questions for each of the PRISM domains and RE-AIM dimensions

– It is intended to offer examples and inspiration for developing your own tailored questions

What the PRISM Qualitative Guide Database is it NOT:

– It is not a comprehensive or prescriptive set of questions

– It is not an endorsement of any single guide as “best practice”

– It is not a survey or measurement tool

– It is not designed to be copied verbatim without adaptation to your study context

– It is not a substitute for developing guides tailored to your research aims, populations, and settings

How is the database organized?

The Database is organized into 13 sheets. The first sheet, titled ‘Overview’, has information about each of the qualitative guides that are included within the database. This can be used as a table of contents and a reference to provide context to individual questions within the database. Each of the remaining 12 sheets corresponds to a PRISM context domain or RE-AIM outcome dimension and contains all of the questions relevant to that construct. Questions can appear across multiple sheets if they were labelled with more than one domain/dimension.

How do I use the database?

You can filter each sheet by clicking filter, and then ‘add condition’. For example: on the perspectives of implementers sheet you could add a condition where implementation phase is “pre-implementation” to only see questions that were used in the pre-implementation phase. You can also expand the question column to see the entirety of longer questions by hovering over the question and clicking on the square with two arrows to expand the cell. We recommend using the database during the development of an interview or focus group guide, after you have selected your research question.
